Your Daily Energy Report for September 10, 2026
Posted on 2026-09-10
Crude Oil
Crude Oil futures for October settled up $6.43 or 6.694% at $102.48. Oil prices spiked to multi-month peaks on Thursday following Iranian counterstrikes and Houthi activity against maritime routes and Saudi infrastructure. Compounding these market fears, Saudi Arabia experienced a severe output contraction in August 2026, dropping daily production by nearly 1.9 million barrels down to 6.238 million barrels.
Natural Gas
Natural Gas futures for October settled up $.012 or .425% at $2.834. Natural gas prices rebounded today despite an EIA report showing a larger-than-anticipated 40 bcf inventory injection for the week ending September 4. This storage build expanded total domestic working stocks to 3.254 Tcf, sitting 4.8% past five-year historical norms, which, alongside strong Lower 48 production averaging 112.9 bcfd, continues to signal robust market supply.
