Crude Oil

Crude Oil futures for October settled up $.79 or .876% at $91.01. Oil prices rose on Wednesday, taking a breather following a two-session rally that pushed benchmark prices to a six-week high. Energy traders are balancing heightened Middle East geopolitical supply risks against data indicating physical crude is still transiting key shipping lanes.

Natural Gas

Natural Gas futures for October settled up $.052 or 1.791% at $2.956. Natural gas prices are up slighlty today, touching an eight-week peak driven by persistent late-summer heat and expanding LNG export intake. Meteorologists project above-normal heat across the central U.S. into mid-September, which should maintain strong power-sector burn for cooling needs.
