Crude Oil

Crude Oil futures for September settled up $1.15 or 1.415% at $82.40. Oil prices rose on Friday, gaining momentum as Washington intensified financial countermeasures against Iran to enforce the opening of the critical Strait of Hormuz. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that additional punitive economic steps are slated for next week alongside a continuous US naval blockade of Iranian ports, while the International Energy Agency simultaneously cautioned that the 2026 global supply shortfall will be the most severe in five years.

Natural Gas futures for September settled up $.006 or .22% at $2.733. Natural gas prices gained today as market participants balanced sweltering summer projections and expanding LNG export intake against robust domestic inventories.
