Crude Oil
Crude Oil futures for September settled down -$.87 or -1.03% at $83.59. Oil prices slipped on Thursday as market participants weighed escalating geopolitical risks against indicators of improving vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Data from Kpler revealed that 14 commodity vessels navigated the Hormuz waterway in both directions on Wednesday, marking an increase from single-digit figures recorded the previous week, while abundant crude inventories in China served to dampen import demand.
Natural Gas
Natural Gas futures for September settled up $.036 or 1.323% at $2.758. Natural gas prices posted modest gains today after the latest EIA report revealed a smaller-than-anticipated inventory injection for the week ended July 24, as energy firms added 28 Bcf against market forecasts of a 35 bcf build.
